Overall Personality: even know mel tries to be the same person she was before this whole terrible ordeal. she's friendly, but no overly. she knows not everyone is to be trusted and usually is quick on her feet when she sees large groups of people. she tends to hide away from them. that being said if she sees someone in need of help, she will help them. she isn't nosy and really is a bit quiet. she lets people to all the talking, but that doesn't mean she she won't voice her opinion. she really isn't much for aggressive or starting fights against other living beings. she's runner and if she can avoid a bad situation she will. it isn't hard to guilt her into helping you. she's really a sweet and caring girl that would do anything to keep others safe from harm. there isn't a day she thinks about everything she's lost and just calling it quits. there's been plenty of times that she's been betrayed and maybe she's naive or hopeful, but she tries to see the good in people.
History: melanie was born and raised in the state of maine and lead a fairly normal life. her parents were pretty busy in their medical career and sought the same future for their only daughter. right after high school melanie decided to go to college to become a nurse, unlike her parents who were doctors. she figured since it was still in the medical field they would be happy. honestly if she would of gotten her way, melanie would of liked to become a pre-school teacher. none the less, she was happy getting her degree as a nurse. when all this started she had been doing her clinical in the hospital her parents worked in.
they managed to find each other and head back home where they managed to board up their house. huddle around the television. they stayed in their home until they heard about the safe haven. grabbing as much as they could they armed themselves and began the long journey. their main form of transportation was their car. they siphoned gas and kept extra in gas cans. they made sure they had enough to keep the car going. it wasn't till they hit pennsylvania did they suffer a loss.
the family had been scavenging in a near by town when a horde hit. despite the attack they seemed to have made it out alive. it wasn't till they made camp that day that they found out that her mother had been bit during that narrow escape. her mother urged them to pack up and move along. her father refused, tying her mother up to keep her from attacking them. they stayed with her till she died and came back to life. it was her father had ended her life. they never talked about what happened that day.
by the time they had reach west virginia they had joined up with a small group of survivors. they stayed with them, as the group was also heading to the safe haven. the group was close to their destination until it was attacked. it was a free for all. those that you trusted didn't even bother to help you. mel had been pinned by fallen debris. her father had been attacked by the dead after helping her escape. he told her to run and not look back and that's exactly what she has been doing.
